Speak His Promise, Not Our Anxiety

Matthew 6:31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, What shall we eat? What shall we drink? What shall we wear? Worry is something that the enemy most often uses to shake us, making us lose our peace and finally divert our eyes from the work of the cross of Jesus to our own efforts. God knows very well that we are easily anxious. That is why, from the mouth of Jesus Himself He said: do not be anxious. But is that all that Jesus said? The whole sentence says: “Do not be anxious, saying…” When we worry, the most natural thing for us to do is usually to say it with words. When we worry and say things, our problems do not diminish or disappear. If we say things to someone who is not wise, then the possibility is that our problems will actually become bigger. 1 Peter 3:10 says, “Let anyone who wants to see good days keep his tongue and his lips in check.” When anxiety hits us, let us learn not to say bad things. And instead speak God’s promises. Speak His promises according to what we are worried about. If we are worried about our health, say, “His wounds have healed me.” If we are worried about our children, say, “My children will be mighty on earth.” Speak God’s promises more than our worries.
